You can't say that iTunes doesn't have its fair share of issues, particularly in Windows. One problem is its memory and CPU usage. If have a laptop, you may notice your fans increasing their rotations when launching the program. To fix this issue, you can turn to iTunes CPU Redux, which reduces iTunes' resource usage. The application is quite simple and you can have good results for a minimum of effort.

iTunes CPU Redux is offered as a freeware utility. You can use it on Windows 7 and any later edition, up to Windows 10. The application can be installed in just a few seconds, without making any advanced settings and you don't need to meet any special requirements.

Launching the application is sufficient to prevent iTunes from overusing your computer's resources. You can start up iTunes and organize or play your media files, without noticing a significant performance drop. If you open up the Task Manager and go to the Processes tab, you will see the iTunes associated with a lower memory and CPU usage.

The application performs a series of simple tasks to achieve its goal, but you can tweak its behavior on a compact settings panel, which can be accessed through a system tray icon. iTunes CPU Redux can be set to identify and close certain processes, like "distnoted", "Sync Server" or "MobileDeviceHelper". You can also tick simple options, like displaying notifications when the application does something.

With iTunes CPU Redux working on your computer, you can use iTunes more efficiently, without the usual performance drops.

Pros

The application can make iTunes use less resources. All you have to do is launch it on your computer. You can make a few simple settings to its behavior.
